Chinese manufacturer BYD (Build Your Dreams) has revealed that its new all-electric Seal would be available in India on March 5, 2024. The electric sedan made its public premiere in the country during the 2023 Auto Expo. In fact, the Seal has already been observed testing, and some BYD shops have begun making bookings. That being said, it will be the brand’s third entry in the market, following the e6 and Atto 3.

BYD Seal EV: Design

The Seal EV is a sleek electric sedan with distinctive design characteristics and a slanting roofline. This design concept, known as “ocean aesthetics,” is aligned with BYD’s goals for its electric vehicle line.

It employs the e-platform 3.0 and CTB (cell-to-body) technology, with the battery pack integrated into the chassis. The EV measures 4,800mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,460mm tall. Furthermore, it has a wheelbase of 2,920mm. The boot capacity is 400 liters, while the front trunk has a capacity of 50 litres.

BYD Seal EV: Interior

The inside features a massive 15.6-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a 10.25-inch all-digital instrument cluster, and a heads-up display. The center console contains a gear selector, two wireless charging pads, and other controls for controlling various tasks. BYD has also equipped it with a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, linked car technology, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.

BYD Seal: Range, battery, & power output

The Seal is powered by two battery packs (61.4kWh and 82.5kWh). The former can be used with single or twin motors, whereas the latter is only available with all-wheel drive. The Seal EV’s top-spec edition, which has a huge battery pack, claims a range of up to 700 kilometers on a full charge. Its dual-motor arrangement generates 530PS and can hit 100kmph in 3.8 seconds.

BYD Seal EV: Pricing

The new BYD Seal EV is anticipated to retail for between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 65 lakh. Its launch competitors are the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 46.05 lakh), Kia EV6 (Rs 60.95-65.95 lakh), and BMW i4 (Rs 72.50-77.50 lakh).
